Its aim is to become a specialist Wikipedia-like resource for the music products category, whereby the content is maintained by the community. Members of the community include hobbyists, musicians and audio production practitioners – from students and amateur enthusiasts to full-time professionals. At the heart of Gear-Wiki is a community-maintained knowledge base that grows incrementally through the user contributions. This offers a comprehensive library of encyclopaedic product descriptions, sound clips, shootouts and user reviews among other specialist features. Because this content is generated and maintained by the community, it is objective and peer-reviewed.
