gBox makes a gift-giving widget that allows you to buy DRM-free music from your wishlist or your friends’ wishlist. gBox’s gift-giving widget allows people to create digital goods wishlists that they or their friends can gift to them and vice-versa. Users can create, manage and share their wishlist widgets on the gBox site or wherever they want to post their widget including popular social-networking sites. They can also view theirs friends’ wishlists and see what gifts they have given and what gifts they have received.

gBox has plans to sell DRM-free music on their site. They have struck a deal with Universal to sell DRM-free music for 99 cents per track or $9.99 an album. Engadget reported that they have struck another deal with Google to refer users to their gBox site via Google AdWords. Universal plans to pay Google for the gBox referrals.

Competitors in the DRM-free space include AmieStreet, Wal Mart, eMusic, iTunes and Amazon.

gBox can in no way be put in the same league as Amazon, iTunes, or Wal-Mart. Amazon is "the" original online store and they haven't stopped innovating since then. Amazon's wish list if the most used online wish list, in which you can place all sorts of goods. Have you tried gBox? iTunes is "the" online music store with other 1 billion downloads to it's name. It's catalog far exceeds any online download site and represents over 80% of digital music sales. 80% of the world can't be wrong! Their gift card is easy to buy and easy to use. And don't forget all of the vidoes you can buy on iTunes. Have you tried gBox? Wal-Mart is "the" discount retailer. And their online store isn't that bad either, with tracks starting at $0.88. The site is intuitive and responsive. What you tried gBox? I've tried gBox :-(
