Gateway

Founded in 1985 in an Iowa barn, Gateway grew to be one of the largest retailers of PC hardware and software in the late 90s. After years as a multi-billion dollar company, however, Gateway lost its status as one of the Fortune 500 biggest companies in 2006. In late 2007, Gateway was acquired by Taiwan’s Acer Technologies for $710 million.

Gateway develops, supports and markets a range of computers and displays to consumers and the media, including personal computers, computer monitors, and servers.
