Gaddaf.ly aimed to do one thing well, and one thing only: shorten URLs related to Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi. While use of the site to shorten any URL was possible, the practice of shortening URLs that are neither Libya nor Gaddafi -related was frowned upon. Likewise URLs that ran contrary to the interests of the Libyan people or their Brotherly Leader.
Despite the above policies, the Libyan registry suspended the Gaddaf.ly several days after launch, and it is officially in the deadpool as of 9/10/2010.
