FoxyTunes

FoxyTunes began in August 2004 as a Firefox toolbar extension allowing users to control all major media players on all major platforms from their browser. Since then FoxyTunes has added support for more than 30 music players and operability on Mozilla Thunderbird, Seamonkey, Flock, and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Customizable buttons and skins have also been added, as well as numerous additional features such as album cover displays and twitter/song status signatures.

The company plans to expand its business from the simple extension with its creation of FoxyTunes Planet, a music portal and “personalized music aggregator” that integrates with the extension as well as numerous major music services and providers.

FoxyTunes was acquired by Yahoo! in February 2008 for an undisclosed sum amidst a shakeup of the Yahoo! Music property.
