Flite is an online advertising technology company based in San Francisco, CA. The platform allows brands, agencies and publishers to create ads that are as dynamic as the Web.
To date, the start-up has raised $27 million in funding from venture capitalists including Sequoia Capital, General Catalyst Partners, and Hummer Winblad Venture Partners. The company is headed by CEO Will Price and co-founder Giles Goodwin.
The company’s platform allows users with limited technical knowledge to create interactive ads with real-time content from applications such as YouTube, Twitter and Facebook. Unlike traditional static display ads, Flite’s ads have the appearance and functionality of mini-websites while complying with standard IAB banner ad sizes.
Features and functionality include: live polls, product catalogs, downloadable PDFs, videos, live streaming content from Twitter and other social media sites, sweepstakes, product carousels, option to purchase movie tickets, etc – all of which are directly accessible in an ad unit.
While a variety of companies provide banner advertising with rich-media functionality, Flite’s innovation is in its ease-of-use and scalability. Flite uses a proprietary platform to provide users with drag-and-drop components and templates. The result is that marketers can quickly update their online ads, instead of creating code from scratch with each new campaign.
The company works with various stakeholders in the display advertising industry, including publishers, ad networks, agencies, and brands.
