The main reason why people do not buy clothing on the internet is the inability to try it on – the virtual fitting room solves this and increases sales. It also reduces returns associated with bad fit, increasing the profits.
Only 10% of clothing is sold on internet currently (vs 50% of computers); however, when speaking of dollar volume, apparel is the biggest selling item on the internet today.
