Fits.me develops virtual fitting room solutions for online clothing retailers.
The subjective nature of “fit” as it applies to clothing and fashion has inhibited online apparel sales for years – in 2012 the overall proportion of garment sales from online channels was still only 14-15%. The essential problem is the inability of shoppers to try on clothes to check the fit before they choose their size. According to Mintel, widespread inconsistencies in sizing between different brands and retailers make online clothes shopping a challenge for six in ten shoppers.
Fits.me’s virtual fitting room solutions helps boost the profitability of online clothing retailers by enabling them to overcome the online fit problem, increasing conversions and reducing garment returns.
On the site of a partner retailer, Fits.me will display for the online shopper the photograph from its database that shows exactly how the garment they’re looking at will look on their body size and shape, simply by asking them for just a few basic measurements. The shopper may also see instantly how other sizes will fit them, enabling them to choose the size that fits them the way they like it.
Data from online clothing retailers using Fits.me shows an improvement in conversion rates of up to 62% compared to shoppers using a traditional size chart and a reduction in returns for reasons of fit of up to 77%.

Fit Advisor is a size recommendation solution for online clothing retailers.
It is a complementary solution to the Fits.me Virtual Fitting Room that provides fit information and recommendations without photography for upper body garments, dresses and trousers, including jeans. It is especially suitable for retailers with wide and/or shallow stock policies, or that add/remove stock lines with high frequency.
Fit Advisor invites the online shopper to provide a few, key, body measurements, but then simply asks the shopper whether he/she prefers to wear their clothes tight, with a ‘regular’ fit, or loose. If the shopper doesn’t know their measurements, they can enter their height, weight, age and body shape and Fit Advisor calculates the remaining measurements that needed to accurately determine fit.
Proprietary algorithms then recommend the size most likely to fit best, and to indicate where fit is likely to be comfortable, tight or loose. Fit Advisor takes into account the ‘fit preferences’ given by the shopper.
New technology developed by Fits.me means a retailer needs to provide measurements for only one size of garment in a range, eliminating the need to locate, aggregate and measure perhaps hundreds of garments in each size.

The Fits.me Virtual Fitting Room provides a photographic solution to the problem of fit in the online apparel retail environment.
It eliminates the guesswork typically needed by a shopper about whether a particular garment size meets their individual sense of fit. Such reassurance of fit has the dual effects of increasing online conversion rates and reducing garment return rates.
To create an image database of garments, male or female robotic mannequins - able to change both size and shape - are dressed in representative items from the retailer’s range, in each available size. Each permutation of garment/size is then photographed while the robotic mannequin morphs through thousands of body shapes. The output of this process is a comprehensive image database. For each image, the precise dimensions of the mannequin are known.
On a retailer’s site, Fits.me selects from its database and displays the photograph from the database that shows exactly how the garment the shopper is looking at will fit their body size and shape, simply by asking that shopper for a few common measurements.
A shopper may also choose to see how different sizes will look on them, before choosing the size that fits them the way they prefer it.
Conversion rates for users of a virtual fitting room are an average of 90% higher than for shoppers who do not use a virtual fitting room. Clients report garment returns for reasons of fit have been reduced by up to 77%.
