Firefly is a photo check-in service for Twitter. Users share their location and experiences by “checking in†with a photo and place via a smartphone app, and can see the real-time location of their friends based on their Twitter activity. The service is built to run on top of Twitter and work with a user’s existing Twitter social graph.
Firefly differs from other check-in apps by finding your Twitter friends from a wide variety of their Twitter activity, including regular tweets posted with a location, photos posted from phot sharing apps such as Instagram, PicPlz, etc. as well as check-ins posted from Foursquare, Gowalla, BrightKite, etc. The real-time location of your friends can then be seen on a map, and you can @reply, re-tweet and direct message right from the Firefly app.
