FightWithFood.ORG - Fighting Hunger One… Event, Venue, Volunteer, Musician, Donation, Box of Food, Can of Food… At a Time!
We are a grassroots organization dedicated to ending world hunger by leading a movement of community events and competitions created to strengthen communities, encourage social responsibility and food justice.
Our mission is to end world hunger by creating competitions designed to:
(1) Strengthen Communities - We promote the idea of sharing food and art at
every gathering. Ending world hunger requires that we learn to support each other’s needs. Art creates a space for us to empathize and understand each other’s needs. Competition between communities encourages community interdependence.
(2) Encourage Social Responsibility - We believe that world hunger is an issue so
complex that it touches everybody and therefore requires a fight from everyone. Sharing information about food insecurity and creative ways to join the fight encourages individuals to move into action.
(3) Promote Food Justice - We work to create a national and global awareness of
hunger and support efforts dedicated to ending world hunger. Together we can use our knowledge and experience to fight hunger as one.
We use a variety of strategies to accomplish our work:
Social Networking:
• Our Public Website includes event calendars, tally pages, partner artists,
food banks, and other networking tools.
• Our Online Social Network Presence is prevalent on Facebook, Twitter,
YouTube, MySpace, LinkedIn, etc.
• We work with an Extensive Network of Partner Organizations like
DoSomething and Fight With Tools.
Volunteer Support:
• Our public website is designed to support the work of volunteers.
• We offer an online, self-guided food drive curriculum including how to
produce food drives at concerts, events, and venues.
• Our website includes volunteer management tools and public event
management support.
Event Promotion:
• We promote food drives for ALL events.
• We work with a group of partner organizations and businesses who support
our events like Eventful, GigBot, and the Colorado Music Buzz.
• Our website and united social networking front feature FightWithFood.ORG
events and partner artists.
• We (will) offer a free event â€flier bank†(COMING SOON).
Education:
• We provide information at our events and online about the importance of
joining the fight to end hunger.
• Our website includes free information on how to produce food drives at
concerts, events, and venues.
• We encourage shared knowledge by offering a space to publish and discuss
ideas and work.
• Our website also includes many educational resources.
Advocacy:
• We work with an extensive network of food activists and advocates
dedicated to ending hunger and malnutrition.
• Our website offers ideas about how to get involved.
Communities We Serve:
We are a nonpartisan, unaffiliated grassroots organization dedicated to serving
the hungry and malnourished. Our work is all-inclusive and our community has grown based on the collaboration of many communities including musicians, artists, volunteers, business owners, churches, schools, and food banks. Together we have established the basis of our current models. We look forward to sharing and utilizing the work of others in the future.
• Musician/Artist Support - we support artist development by
o Promoting a community of unsigned, indie label, and major label artists
nation and genre-wide by creating press, web presence, and radio airplay opportunities.
o Encouraging musicians to recognize the benefits and importance of social
contribution.
• Volunteers - we encourage the unique contribution of individuals by
providing
o An online community to facilitate work.
o Education and awareness as it relates to social responsibility and food
security.
• Businesses/Churches/Schools - we offer opportunities for organizations to
plug in and build community both locally and worldwide.
o Local and Worldwide event sponsorship from organizations shows
support for hunger issues.
