Fastly provides a content distribution & acceleration network built on the Varnish caching engine.
Fastly is a next generation CDN service created by Artur Bergman, the former CTO of Wikia. Fastly’s exclusive technology is designed to speed up your entire site including highly dynamic applications. Fastly caches both static and dynamic content and makes it possible to run instant purges that enable you to build a more robust and dynamic application providing a faster and richer user experience. Real-time analytics provide the intelligence you need and the Fastly dashboard gives you the control you want for your application.
Todays’ applications are highly dynamic and personal; content changes in real-time and often. With other CDNs, content in the caches could take hours to be synchronized with the changed content in the application servers, resulting in old or invalid content being served to your users.
Legacy CDNs don’t cache any user-generated content and they don’t have the ability to perform instant purges, as a result all of these requests are passed on to the application servers. This requires a large numbers of servers to support your applications, which increases your costs and decreases user satisfaction.
Fastly allows you to leverage CDN service for user-generated content just like using it for static content. This reduces application server costs for user-generated content as much as 90%, and the caches’ processing speed improves the end user experience as well.
Fastly is simple to setup and deploy; there are no contracts and no commitments. Real-time analytics and a dashboard allow you to monitor and analyze your application performance and customize your configurations in real-time to improve user experiences.
