Hubdub Ltd is the developer and operator of FanDuel (http://www.fanduel.com). Launched in July 2009, it is now the leading one-day fantasy sports game for NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL in the US.
Our games target the 63 million adult male sports fans in North America and more internationally. Our daily draft game, FanDuel, currently targets the 25 million adult fantasy sports players in North America.
Traditional fantasy sports games require players to draft a team at the start of the season and then manage it all the way through the season. In our research we identified that consumers wanted a game that gave much more instant gratification. This led us to devise a game that would allow players to draft, play and win within a single day. Users pay entry fees to compete at a game of skill and the opportunity to win a cash prize. Entry fees start at $5 and go up to $100.
FanDuel is currently white labelled to 8 major newspaper partners including the New York Post and the Philadelphia Inquirer, with several more in the pipeline. Liquidity and revenues are shared between partner sites and Fanduel.com.
Hubdub Ltd is led by Nigel Eccles who formerly launched the Flutter.com betting exchange (acquired by Betfair) and also re-launched the Betdaq betting exchange. Additionally he spent 4 years with McKinsey & Co. Hubdub Ltd’s chairman is Owen O’Donnell who was formerly CFO of Betfair and King.com, and is currently on the board of Rank PLC. VP of Business Development is Warrick Taylor, serial entrepreneur and former COO of Zvents. The company currently has 12 employees and is based in San Francisco Bay area and Scotland.
