ELERTS develops Emergency Response software systems which fully utilize the capabilities of smartphones.
Whether the emergency is “shooter on campus”, hurricane approaching, or elevated radiation levels, people need to know when danger is coming their way.
Today the defacto standard for mobile alerts is SMS text messaging. SMS is 25 year old technology that features unconfirmed delivery, unpredictable delays, and a 160 character content limit. But smartphones are rapidly replacing feature phones. Sending 1-way, SMS text alerts to smartphones does not make sense.
To provide the best real-time information, the ELERTS server aggregates emergency and disaster data from official government sources, crowdsourcing and social networks. Our smartphone apps provide information-rich emergency alerts, with photos, audio, geo-notification, mapping and evacuation routes. Most importantly, ELERTS is a participatory platform that encourages sharing information. Citizens who witness a crisis can report important details to help first responders and others to mitigate the emergency.
