e994 is a emergency response system which utilises the concept of crowdsourcing to save lives. Usually, emergency response and rescue teams will be dispatched upon receiving a distress call. The time taken to notify these teams, as well as the travel time required to reach the location, might be the difference between life and death.

With e994, it is possible for signals to be sent out to trained public volunteers (trained paramedics, first-aiders, medical professionals etc) by any mobile phone user with the e994 application. Through location based service technology Volunteers will be notified depending on their vicinity from the victim, and they can assist in alleviating any medical issues while waiting for the rescue team to arrive. The application hence allows for a shorter response time and greater chance of survival.
