Explode is a social search engine. You can find people by name or interest across major social networks, find similar users, and click through to their sites.
However, log in (either locally or with your OpenID), and it becomes a social network. You can add people to your friends list, no matter which network they choose to make their home on. If they allow you to, you can “nudge” them with messages, or leave a note on their comment wall.
Explode also provides FOAF functionality for networks that don’t provide it, and has an API for programming external interfaces.
