Founded by well known communications blogger Pat Phelan, Cubic Telecom is a mobile service provider looking to be the first to blanket the globe with their signal. To accomplish this goal the company will utilize existing phone network resources. The company will become a fully global mobile startup offering cheaper prices for overseas calls.
Phelan says “We want a world in which you can pick up your mobile phone anywhere and call anyone for as long as you like and not worry about the price. When most people think about driving down the cost of telephone calls, they think of calling from computer-to-computer. We don’t. We deliver simple, high quality, high value telephone services direct to the devices that people like to use - their mobile phones.”
There will be no necessary downloads or any new configurations for your phone.
Cubic Telecom has raised 5 million Euros and currently offers service in 160 companies. It is working towards free mobile speech.

Cubic Telecom allows you to make cheaper calls by leveraging two networks, Wi-Fi and GSM. Users phones will switch to the cheapest network depending on where they are.
Take your Cubic Mobile phone when you travel internationally and wander into a Wi-Fi hotspot and you’ll be making international calls for as low as 1 cent a minute (or even free in some circumstances). Walk out of a hotspot and onto the street and you can make and receive calls to anywhere in the world for as low as 15 cents a minute on any GSM network.
