i<3anime - January 14, 2009 at 11:37am
i love crunchyroll! i have an account there and paid for the membership myself (even though my parents dont know) but i think it was worth it cause i really like the idea of watching anime high quality an hour after it airs in japan cause i never liked waiting 3 or 4 days until it was subbed. also i think that getting the permission from the creatiors is good because some of the series that were lisenced or stopped being subbed will be subbed
Me Myself - January 11, 2009 at 9:05pm
Meh, crunchyroll really K.Oed itself. I know going legit is best, but seriously ugh. Now i can't keep track of half of my animes, and their "official high quality su bs" are ugly and don't work. The user ones were way better. Basically we got sold out. Not cool.

Does this mean that people from the UK - such as myself - won't be able to watch animes like Naruto Ship, Skip Beat, etc because of the region issue? This is really not fair for the fans living in the UK.
roland - January 5, 2009 at 3:25pm
i guess, if i can't view much of the vids, i will soon migrate to mysoju.com or tudou.... ;(
Crunchy fan - January 4, 2009 at 6:31am
Some far it seems like European fans of Crunch are gonna suffer the bigger loss. Most of the videos seem only avalible to America. Japan suffers a loss to but they should have the easiest access to view most of the stuff that was on crunchy anyway. Living in the UK there is hardly any real programs that appeal to views that are frequent users on crunchy roll. What crunchy roll did was give viewers that they wanted. I would be willing to pay to support but now with whats in-line for 2009 I think I'm gonna sit it out till crunchyroll is able to "strike-a-deal" about the region lock.

Well, I am a tad upset at how certain shows are removed BUT, Shinji said that he would like to get the creator permission before displaying it onto the site. Which is a very good thing, also now we get to watch shows that was removed long ago. Although many users will be upset at the current situation, I believe in due time many will realize how important the tactic of getting the creator permissions FIRST is a necessity. Besides if you created a manga/anime/drama wouldn't you want to get permission first before they go displaying it onto sites. Many might argue that they would never have been well known if it wasn't on the sites in the first place. Well actually there are sites out there where you can look up information on anime/manga/drama. Its just that not many people bother to look it up and only just browse around the site and illegally watch them. In fact I am one of them too, but if a chance arise where I can watch anime/drama or read manga legally without paying much or at all I would be one of the first couple of thousands on line. That basically many users of Crunchyroll should stop looking on the downside and start looking on the bright side of things. After all, things don't just happen over night, it takes time and tactics to accomplish things. Sincerely, Anonymous

crunchyroll no longer provides free videos to watch and has gone legit, airing only a selected few new animes and all old animes such as Digimon, Pokemon, etc...
x_NOBODY_x - December 31, 2008 at 10:14am
Crunchyroll is the best anime site i have seen. =}
cookiemonster - December 20, 2008 at 1:35pm
Yes, all the videos on Crunchyroll is copyright infringement with the few exception of Gonzo, Toei, Media Blasters, ADV and other smaller Japanese companies. Crunchyroll asking for donation and putting up ads is no different than other fansub sites that the users uploaded videos from downloading it from BTs and ask for donation and are ads supported. Now those fansub sites are hosting third parties video from Megavideo, Youtube, Veoh, and Myspace. The only difference is that the fansub sites currently do not have the offer of a 4 million supporting them. Those fansub sites would jump at the chance just like Crunchyroll if they a large company to buy them out. The bottom line is that Crunchyroll will be 100% legitimate comes January 8, 2009. All the infringement copyright videos will be deleted from the site.

To all the people who are commenting about the "spoiled kids that get there parents to pay" ,who cares??? If the parents are happy to pay for it then good for them. @kagamichihime: Good for you, you can waste your money in however manys ways you wish but if you have a go at kids, just because their parents are kind enough to pay for them, then you sir, are seriously screwed up. Mods should get paid, you have no idea the amount of time and effort it takes to deal with all the rubbish that some people post in these forums. But yea enough with that. Crunchyroll is a great website for watching anime and meeting new people, my only complaint is that you have to buddy someone before you can post in their guestbook(so far anyways -_-).
FireVixen - November 3, 2008 at 5:09pm
Crunchyroll is one of the best sites for anime I've seen. It's easy to use and has a lot more then some of the other sites I've seen. I'm on it almost everyday, it's a good way to meet other people who are into anime.
kagamichihime - November 3, 2008 at 9:18am
My only issue is with the spoiled teenager comment. "It seems to me that a high percentage of the donaters are spoiled teenagers that get their parents to pay the donation." Very true in many cases. Though I will be paying for my account with money I make from my job, as well as many of my other anime loving friends. We don't like asking our parents for money so we make our own. Not all teenagers do that. I agree as well that they seem to be making much more than they would like to admit.

im a mod on crunchyroll, and i gotta tell you all, we do get paid weekly deppending how mant hours we work its all recorded in the members area how many hours we work on the forums etc. 1 week payment could be between 100 dollars to 250 dollars again deppending how many hours, i do around 20 hours per week. mostly during the night.
suckthisdeth - October 13, 2008 at 10:59am
so what if they make money they should for offering all of us free anime and movies. anyone that bitches about this is on the low end of the developmental spectrum.
deyone5 - October 9, 2008 at 5:12am
Ilove crunch alot it's a very nice place to meet people around the world
Shingen - September 18, 2008 at 9:30pm
I have an account on crunchyroll and I enjoy the content the site offers but I do think they're dishonest about how much money they make. They proclaim that they don't make a profit but since the first day I logged onto crunchyroll I could tell by the polished look of the site, the multiple advertisements, plus the donation factor, that someone was benefiting financially. I even chatted with a Moderator who said that crunchyroll doesn't make any money but I'm sure that's what the people that own the site want the moderators to think because the "mods" don't get paid any money for spending hours of their time running the site and making it better. It's also possible that the "mods" are getting paid but they say they don't so users will keep on donating money. Users that don't donate money do get to watch higher quailty videos now. The benefit of users that do donate money get a few more options, one of them being the opportunity to download the videos that are on the site. It seems to me that a high percentage of the donaters are spoiled teenagers that get their parents to pay the donation. Don't get me wrong I think crunchyroll is a great site and whoever came up with the idea to create the site is a genius. Like many other people all around the world I'm a fan of all forms of Asian entertainment and crunchyroll has successfully tapped into that market. I just believe that they should be honest with their users and not give the false impression that if people don't donate then the site will struggle and eventually shutdown. They should ultimately stop asking for donations all together.

I am one of the members of crunchyroll but on my computer it says that the website has crashed down, is there a way that the company could refresh the site so it could reach me?
kmchan - March 16, 2008 at 6:47pm
...um... If they have a higher quality video available, doesn't that just mean that the lower quality one is a sized-down version of the uploaded content while the "high quality" video is the of the original quality as upped by the donating party? If the website "added its own copyright infringing content" for every video upped, they'd have to have quite a library of videos indeed.
hanashiroh - December 18, 2007 at 1:37pm
I don't know about this but can crunchyroll do something here, I think it's a matter of trust and reliability. Here's the link; http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/08/29/crunchyroll-pushes-the-envelope-on-video-copyright/
