Cresta Technologies (CrestaTech) has created a software-defined RF IC solution which includes two receivers and allows the host computer to receive FM Radio, HD Radio, Digital broadcast television (as well as analog broadcasts in regions that have them) and GPS.

Since Cresta’s solution utilizes software to decode the signal, it offers a region-free alternative to hardware decoders.

CrestaTech also markets a development kit called ‘CrestaWare’ which can be used by developers to take advantage of the hardware and software to build such applications as GPS-enabled Google Mapplets, Social television applications and channel tuning software which can use the GPS signal to locate nearby broadcasters.
