| Description | Social Shopping Utility |
Couture Society is a social shopping utility where users can shop with friends.
Conceptualized in Fall of 2007 and Founded in December of 2008 by Lauren Taylor Baker, Couture Society seeks to simplify the online shopping experience by automating tasks to take the repetitive work out of shopping which drives many shoppers away. Users can create their own ‘custom stores’ that aggregate saved search filters in one location, much like “Tivo” but for shopping. The users store automatically updates it’s content when new items arrive that meet the users filters and the user is notified.
Couture Society saves shoppers both time and money. The search engine allows users to shop for items across multiple retailers at once, such as Bloomingdales, Saks, Nordstrom, Gap, Kohl’s, Sephora, ShopBop, and more. This allows users to save a great deal of time. Users can also immediately set a price filter before search results are even displayed, allowing the user to shop within their budget.
User profiles and saved wish lists along with newly integrated chat capabilities allow users to share the shopping experience with friends. Users can profile their personal style, favorite brands, and favorite stores which effectively allows organic discovery of new brands and items just by seeing what their friends are currently liking. Unlike many other fashion business entities, Couture Society allows users to define their own style and asks them what they like instead of telling them what they should.
Couture Society went live with their Beta website on July 24, 2009.
