Developer and provider of the social network service for K-12 school districts called www.connected.info.
Once described as “Facebook for K-12”, www.connected.info’s key difference is in the way it integrates with existing student management systems to create learning communities from the existing structure within the school district - buildings, class sections, etc.
The service includes an integrated calendar management system that builds events from common school work items such as assignments, projects, quizzes, and tests. Included is a learning management platform that blends social networking techniques into items included in the work flow. Event and work flow notifications are provided via email, text message, or voice call.
Features of the service include blogs, wikis, discussion groups, file sharing, photo sharing, video sharing, and “email-style” messaging.
The system interfaces via either common web browsers or a two way text message interface, e.g. txt HW to the service to receive a text message back with your homework for the day.
The product is offered directly at an MSRP of $4 per student per year. Channel partnering via reseller or OEM arrangements are available as well for either the entire service or modular components.
