Local search and user review platform in Mexico
Conekta is a Mexican software company located in Mexico City that operates conekta.mx, a local search and user review website in Mexico. Conekta currently holds around 1.2 million Mexican businesses in its database, which users can search for and comment about.
Conekta was one of the seven startups to be selected by Mexican.vc, Silicon Valley’s seed fund for Mexican startups, which provided the funds needed to kick the project. Conekta was founded by Cristina, Leo and Hector, who met at an incubator called VeloCity while studying at the University of Waterloo. They came to Mexico looking for an opportunity to bring a user review and local search platform to Mexico.
Conekta offers a local search service in Mexico, where users can find any kind of business in their city like restaurants, bars and more. Users can see reviews made by others and the number of people that have recommended the business. Users can recommend a business by clicking the “recomendar” (recommend in Spanish) button. Registered users can write reviews about their experience with any business. Conekta has been called the “Yelp of Mexico”.
