College.com is a social network that is open to anyone with a “.edu” email address. The site is designed specifically for students but they want to keep it open to alumni networks, too. College.com is trying to step up and fill the niche that Facebook used to exclusively fill. The site has all the basic networking features like friends, profiles, blogs, events, groups and videos. They also have some special features like news bulletin boards, wake-up calls that ring actual phones and dating compatibility tests.

The school specific features include being able to post class schedules, like Facebook, and including special profiles for professors, fraternities and sororities. You can look up any professor in a school-specific directory, read their bios and rate them.

The site has been launched in beta with over 30,000 students at Florida State University. College-focused social networks include ConnectU and CommonRoom.
