ChaCha is a free mobile answers service for people on the go. ChaCha allows people with any mobile phone – from basic flip phones to advanced smart phones – to ask any question in conversational English and receive an accurate answer as a text message in just a few minutes. With ChaCha, answers are available when you need them… anytime, anywhere.
The mobile search service also matches queries to guides that are most knowledgeable on the given subject, but the questions and resultant answers are delivered in short, singular messages via SMS text message. In April 2008, ChaCha also announced the availability voice search through its mobile service that could be queried via a toll-free phone number.

ChaCha mobile search uses paid human guides to answer questions sent via SMS text message in conversational English. The service matches queries by sending them to the most knowledgeable guides in that topic, who then answer back via text message.
The mobile search model is now used for ChaCha’s desktop queries as well, whereas ChaCha’s original model used human guides to search with users in a chat-like session. The previous model was discontinued in favor of the universal mobile search model in April 2008. The new model also includes a voice search service that can be queried from a mobile phone via a toll free number (800.2CHACHA). The standard SMS text id is also ‘CHACHA’ (242 242).
