CafeScribe

CaféScribe (http://www.CafeScribe.com) is a Facebook for brainiacs. Yup, for students or business professionals who want to collaborate around textbooks or any other document, CafeScribe is your thing.

Upload any type of document (yes, like scribd) or buy an e-Book or e-Textbook and start sharing notes. Any note you add to your document or e-Book is broadcast on CafeScibe. Anyone else can subscribe to your notes or thoughts. Anyone can rank how well they think your notes are by giving a thumbs up or thumbs down or rank your “genius” level.

You can also upload, annotate and share their own books and documents. At the core of CaféScribe is MyScribe, a free downloadable reader that functions as a way to organize and annotate PDFs and other documents (like iTunes, but for documents). It also lets people connect and share documents with other members of the CaféScribe community.

Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, CaféScribe is a technology company dedicated to helping students and professionals get better, cheaper textbooks that let them learn more efficiently. They recently launched the world’s first musty-smelling e-books by offering a scratch & sniff sticker that smells like old books with every e-book purchase.

Yes, very similar to Scribd or the “youtube” of documents. You can upload any document to CafeScribe.

You may wonder, what is the difference? Well, once you upload the document, you can download it to MyScribe and then whamo! you can start to share notes on that document with your friends. Its like email for documents.

MyScribe

Some have called MyScribe “Adobe Acrobat” on steroids. Some call it the iTunes for documents.

Call it what you may, MyScribe is a simple application that allows students and professionals to share notes on documents like it was email.

We wanted to make it possible for people to collaborate on a document and to make it as easy as email.

Any annotation you make is published out to CafeScribe. You can subscribe to each other’s notes and annotations. It ties you into the CafeScribe network. MyScribe core features include: bookshelf (like iTunes, but for documents), shared notes network, comprehensive search, Wikilinks, and highlighting and annotation.

Install it now and share any document with a friend and share your notes.
