The first beta-version of the sitebuilder was launched in 2001 as a product of Efirst GmbH in Düsseldorf, Germany, and in 2006 Cabanova GmbH was founded in the same location to separate the brand and product. It is privately owned and funded, and has 3 shareholders, Karl Weyers, Sebastian Schmitz and Catalin Constantin.
The main office is in Düsseldorf, and there is a second office based in Bucharest, Romania where programming and a part of the support services are provided.
