Founded in 1998, BroadSoft provides voice over IP (VoIP) application software that allows telecommunications service providers to offer advanced calling features to their customers. BroadSoft’s VoIP software can be configured by both telecommunications service providers and end users. BroadSoft’s customer community includes global wireline, wireless, and cable operators, as well as regional competitive carriers, wholesalers and ISPs across the globe.

BroadSoft Xtended extends the capabilities and reach of BroadSoft’s VoIP platform (BroadWorks)- beyond deskphones, desktops and mobile devices to all sorts of business and consumer applications – from UC offerings by Microsoft & IBM to business applications and consumer social networking widgets.
To do this, BroadSoft has developed a marketplace where mashups and new voice-enabled services will be available to service providers (to offer to their customers) and to end-users directly. Developers can license their mashups to service providers or to end-users who receive their voice services from a BroadSoft service provider (i.e., Cox cable, Verizon or Speakeasy).
