@Justin - part of the point of the iPhone app as seen in the video, is that you can use the phones location services to more quickly be able to checkin where you are. @vaspers - If there really were no benefit to users, then why is the market segment so crowded? In reality it's really nice to see what friends are up to (in the same way Twitter is fun to use) and what people have said about things around where you are. If you are worried about stalkers then you simply limit your posts to be private so only trusted friends can see them. The reality of course is that very few people are good looking or interesting enough to have to worry about stalkers.

I have found that updating my location is just to manual. I don't want to have to physically tell them my address. It's too much effort for the benefits. Determining location needs to be more automatic, using something like Wifi Triangulation or GPS.

The advantage to users is nearly non-existent and the advantage to predators, stalkers, enemies is huge.
