Brighter Planet develops data-driven sustainability tools for organizations and individuals.

Brighter Planet helps clients build brand, revenue, and efficiency by integrating carbon and energy analytics into their services for customers, employees, and managers. Brighter Planet’s CM1 platform performs sustainability calculations in the cloud for activities ranging from travel to IT to procurement, and its consulting and development services help organizations integrate these features into their existing business software and design custom-tailored sustainability programs.

For individuals, Brighter Planet offers the nation’s leading green credit and debit cards. The cards fund the construction of renewable energy and sustainable forestry projects with every purchase. Brighter Planet’s free social web application lets users track their climate impact with the world’s most rigorous personal carbon footprint calculator, and manage and share their actions to reduce that impact.

Since getting its start in a college classroom just a few years ago, Brighter Planet has attracted hundreds of thousands of customers, performed tens of millions of carbon calculations, and prevented hundreds of millions of pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. In 2010 the company took home a Financial Times Social Innovation Award and was named Small Business of the Year by Treehugger.
