boxedup.com is a utility that’s about helping users to keep track of the things that they want to get, from any shop or store on the internet, and that then lets users share that information with whoever they want, both on the boxedup site and through distributed presence on social networks, blogs, etc. Short description is “delicious for products”, longer description is “Amazon lists, but from anywhere on the web”. As a service, it’s tightly integrated into the search/browse experience via a browser extension/bookmarklet that’s installed during registration.

So boxedup is about helping users to organise their internet shopping activity, and then creating structure around the social opportunities that exist (and is also focussed on being about aiding discovery and empowering users by providing them with tools to help them get the most out of their internet shopping activity). Commercially it’s about monetising consumer purchasing intent data, and potentially creating new interaction opportunities between users and brands/retailers. Ultimately boxedup is aiming to be a new type of interaction platform/utility, taking advantage of the growth in ecommerce and internet shopping and the growth in the use of online utilities and social applications, as people look to use services to help organise and manage their online activity.
