Blowtorch Entertainment is a venture capital backed, Hollywood media and entertainment studio that caters to college students, ages 18-24.

Fortune Magazine named Blowtorch as one of its “Six Leaps of Innovation” to watch in 2008 and AlwaysOn named it to its Global 250 list of companies changing the market landscape worldwide. The company specializes in the distribution of entertainment (including feature films, advertiser-financed short-form digital content and online applications) for young-adult audiences. Blowtorch is backed by Ignition Partners, a venture capital firm comprised of early Microsoft employees with almost $2 billion under management.

In addition to feature films, Blowtorch operates a website where users can upload their own short videos. The most popular videos are re-shot professionally and included at the start of Blowtorch’s feature films. Taking it even further, Blowtorch allows audience members in the theater to vote for their favorite digital shorts as they are watching them from their mobile phones.
