Uvatar is another fun tool that allows the user to make an exact online representation of themself for the avatar world. Users upload a clear image of themself to the BeFunky site and BeFunky creates a digital hand-drawn uvatar that users can play around with. Users can dress their uvatar in different tops, bottoms and accessories. They can put them in different scenes and backgrounds and equip them with musical instruments, scarves, dogs and cats. They can also choose to be a celebrity including Johnny Depp, George Clooney or Woody Allen.

What is the business model here? Subscription? Ads?

Well, conngratulations.... if it really works. A number of guys, incuding myself, have been toying around the idea of this translation from video to animation. You can show a number of selected shots to would be investors. But what actually happens is that the ''animation image'' is obtained by solarization (diminishing the number of pixels), the resukt is that the quality of the image is not only poor, but and as can be seen on the demonstration movie, when the ''speaker'' (the charcater) that is filmed moves .....there are a number number of uncontrolled ''stains'' (blurred spaces) poping up in the picture....Watch for example in your video, how the shadows on the face of the speaker tend to leap out of control)....not to mention the constant blur at the bottom of the picture. Up to now, nobody (not even Disney, and they triend hard) has found the algorithm that automatically corrects this : so you have to do it by hand, one image after the other: This additional cost ruins the economy of the process.....But early investors think that ultimately the problem is a minor one , and will be solved : it has not been up to now.

oh yeah right the idea of that site is really cool but the thing is...its not working...you can cartoonize ung picture but when you have to save it...even if you wait for hours...nothings happening...it doesnt save...its useless...............................

I think the quality of their automatic cartoons could be better and is behind the state of the art (especially video), but they are to be complimented on their initiative in getting this all online.

Befunky is fantastic. I was looking for some photo software to cartoonize the photos of mine I intend to use at my blog. Befunky made life much easier and practical for me. I am sure lots of bloggers or networkers will tap this idea frequently. Congragulations!
