BeFunky

BeFunky provides users with online tools for creating digital online representations of themselves for use on their blogs, websites, and social networks like MySpace. Their online tools Uvatar and Cartoonizer makes it ridiculously easy for you to turn yourself into an avatar, cartoon, digital painting or comic. All you have to do is upload an image or picture and start warping, sketching, coloring, dressing and customizing your digital self.

Uvatar lets you put your hand-drawn cartoon portrait into different scenes, clothes and accessories. For instance, you can dress yourself up in clown clothes and head to the office or dress up in a bathing suit and put yourself in a fancy restaurant. All you have to do to get started is upload a picture of yourself and wait for the BeFunky team to finish creating your hand-made cartoon. Your Uvatar can easily be used online or on your mobile phone.

On the other hand, Cartoonizer automatically creates a cartoon, comic or digital painting out of your uploaded pictures and videos. You can easily create black-and-white sketches, accentuate your lips and other body parts, or create a colored painting.

The BeFunky team is from Istanbul, Turkey, and is made up of engineers with a passion for integrating art with technology.

I think the quality of their automatic cartoons could be better and is behind the state of the art (especially video), but they are to be complimented on their initiative in getting this all online.

Befunky is fantastic. I was looking for some photo software to cartoonize the photos of mine I intend to use at my blog. Befunky made life much easier and practical for me. I am sure lots of bloggers or networkers will tap this idea frequently. Congragulations!
