Because of its cloud-based and open architecture, it is also redefining what “CRM” means. Without salesforce.com, there is no PULSE. It’s the foundation. It’s very important for organizations to understand that an experienced salesforce.com administrator is required to install and use PULSE effectively.
But salesforce.com is a powerful tool with many advantages for you and your organization. Salesforce.com offers free subscriptions to non-profits so your organization can take advantage of the most powerful CRM tool available in addition to the PULSE product. Because both run from a shared data center (“the cloud”) there is no software to install and none to upgrade. You simply log in and start using it and customizing it.
At its core, PULSE has three main components:
Collecting PULSE is an easy-to-use repository for user defined or IRIS impact metrics. Data is entered through a web based interface with a classic salesforce.com look and feel. Your data is secure, and data sent to the IRIS aggregator for benchmarking is anonymous and confidential.
Reporting PULSE allows for reporting across different metrics. You can select specific metrics, groups of metrics, and can flag them as confidential. Reports can be saved as Reporting Groups for common reports.
Standardizing - IRIS PULSE comes pre-loaded with the IRIS taxonomy. These can be customized by your organization, but IRIS standards allow for collection of data across social impact organizations for industry benchmarking and reporting. As a PULSE user, you also have access to the aggregated IRIS data
