The AMEEscore: New Insight into the Supply Chain
AMEE has developed a unique approach to provide an environmental score for the entire population of businesses in the UK. By combining AMEE’s comprehensive environmental data with publicly available commercial data, AMEE has built the AMEEscore. The score reflects the estimated greenhouse gas emissions of a company. Companies are then invited to update their profiles to more accurately reflect their emissions. Over time, AMEE will also collect other critical environmental data such as water, waste, rare resources, etc. AMEE also provides a range of capabilities that help companies calculate emissions or footprint their operations.
The AMEEscore can help supply chain leaders provide a new lens into the efficiency and risk profile of their suppliers. For example, insight into the energy efficiency of suppliers can be benchmarked against others or improvements in energy efficiency can be measured over time. Supply chain leaders can also gain insight into the risk they have to cost changes resulting from energy exposure. In addition, CFOs can gain insight into the potential carbon liabilities and energy price volatility in their supply chain. Finally, much of the data required for companies to report using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard can be gathered and managed in an automated way.
