Ambric developed a massively parallel processor array integrated circuit for high performance applications.
Ambric’s parallel processor solution including a “structured object programming model” that allowed developers to effectively program the large number of cores. Ambric’s first generation chip architecture, Am2045, featured 336 processors on a chip. It competed against large FPGA’s, DSPs and use of Intel x86 processors used in embedded markets.
Ambric targeted video compression markets, medical imaging, wireless basesation and military markets.
