Alacritech was founded in 1997 by technology pioneer Larry Boucher, the author of the SCSI standard and founder of both Auspex and Adaptec. To solve this problem, the team designed Dynamic TCP Offload and cast it into silicon and has now taken it a step further by leveraging this technology in the form of an NFS acceleration appliance. The ANX 1500 NFS Acceleration Appliance is a network storage throughput appliance that provides a dedicated performance layer to your existing network-attached storage (NAS). Rather than attempting to combine storage capacity with performance, the ANX 1500 increases the speed of data access and aggregate data throughput by working alongside NAS systems without requiring that enterprises replace their existing storage infrastructure or surrender ownership of mission-critical data.
The ANX 1500 just doesnâ€™t cache hot data, it accelerates it! After all, what good are SSDs installed in NAS controllers if the underlying hardware architecture canâ€™t accelerate I/O to the storage media? The ANX 1500â€™s caches are accessed with minimal system contention, data is served out via the 10GbE interfaces with minimal latency. And the ANX 1500 achieves the industryâ€™s lowest reported ORT (Overall Response Time) based on the results of the industry standard SPECÂ® (System Performance Evaluation Cooperative) benchmark for NFS SPECsfsÂ®2008 ORT of .92ms.
