Advanced Field Solutions® is a web-based field service solution that enables companies to interact with its on-site service staff.


It focuses on the “grey collar” field worker. Client’s staff could be performing a mixture of service, inspection, estimates, installation, and delivery at the point of customer interaction.

The software uses Net architecture and embraces the mobile GPRS infrastructure to enable instant electronic and mobile service delivery. 


“We cover all parts of service management. Calls are logged on the client’s webpage. The engineer is informed on his handheld device, and he re-acts. It records everything he does, his travel time, work time. The customer signs the device and the signed docket goes to accounts for billing,” said MD Declan Foley.

The application is an ASP offering, allowing for monthly billing, without capital expenditure. The system typically costs €100 per engineer per month in total. “All upgrades and all support are included in that figure; there are no hidden charges and it makes it very affordable. There is no need to spend €100,000 on a system,” said Foley.

Advanced Field Solutions® won the O2 Business Partner of the Year this year, and the ICT excellence awards for the best mobile applications as well. Some 2000 engineers are using the system and 100 more a month are being added to the tally.

The company was formed two and a half years ago by Foley who was then joined by co-director Gerry Kelly. It employs 15 people and expects to grow to 35 staff in 12 months through new business and referrals from existing customers.

“We are going to push into the UK in January. We will do telemarketing from here; but it will be run from Ireland because we are web-based,” said Foley. 
 The system is suited to multi-location, multilingual users and is available in English, Spanish, German, Italian and French. It is optimised to manage service teams of 5 – 50 engineers.

Engineers working abroad are currently using the product in Australia, Brazil, the Far East, and the US. They are employed by Irish companies who are already clients of Advanced Field Solutions®
