Acquia (pronounced “ah-QWEE-uh”) is a commercial open source company that offers products, services and technical support for the popular Drupal open source web publishing and collaboration platform.

Acquia provides a custom Drupal installation built to help you get up to speed quickly, a network of tools and services designed to simplify the operation & maintenance of your site, and commercial Drupal support to help keep your site updated and healthy.

Drupal allows people to build powerful websites with little effort simply by combining different modules into one site. Acquia helps organizations operate and extend their Drupal websites, extending Drupal adoption into new markets.

In the Fall of 2008, Acquia released its packaged distribution of Drupal essentials, Acquia Drupal, as well as the Acquia Network, its subscription service. In July 2009, Acquia launched Acquia Search - offering Apache Solr search as a cloud-based service to Drupal websites.
