Sparter

A company put together by Bessemer Venture Partners, Sparter was a virtual goods exchange for buying and selling virtual currencies in games like World of Warcraft (WOW), EverQuest, Eve and others. Users would sign up and either buy or sell virtual currencies at market prices.

Unlike other services, Sparter allowed users to both buy and sell cirtual currency. In late 2007 the average price for 100 gold in WOW was anywhere between $5 and $10. Prices were proportional to delivery time (in world) and sellers average rating.

As of May 15th the company removed the ability to place all new orders.

I used them on several occasions. They were always professional and responsive. On the one time I had a problem (a vendor did not deliver as he claimed) Sparter refunded my money. I'm sorry to see them go. Sounds like there's something going on here we're not hearing about.

Sure, this site is totally scam. I did not receive any payment since they change their service on May 15, they owe me $1450! NO EMAIL REPLY!

This site is big scam, probably only for sellers, wanted to buy some gold today, and while i was checking they list i have got my account banned on theyr site, without any reason, probably they didnt liked my email address, or... probably they didnt liked the way that i was looking for gold on site... who knows...:)) i have an advice for sellers, stop using this site, you will never sell anything if they continue to do this, i`m not the only one who got his account banned without even placing an order.

I've been using this site for a few months now, and even been have a blog that keeps track of my earnings on there. However they are increasing the commission rate come November 1st, 2007 to 20% so I'm not sure if I will continue using their services. Its very nice though to have an 'escrow' service for regular players when dealing with a virtual good.
