4shared.com is web-service mainly serving the purpose of backing up files in order to access them from any place connected to the Internet and share these files with other people with various access permissions.
Registered users get their own virtual drive (personal account) with intuitive interface. Menus and toolbars are designed in Windows-like style (see screenshot). Users can create folders within their virtual drives and share them with other people. Sharing features set includes various settings for access, download and upload. For example, specific files can be available for download for publisher only, folder can be password protected, while another one can be moderated by general public. In the latter case other people can not merely download files but also (in case the corresponding permissions are set) create new subfolders and upload their own files into them.
Users also can get ready codes to post on forums, blogs etc or embed files to their own pages.
Account features set includes playlists for audio files, slideshows for images in a photoalbum and easy navigation.
4shared provides users with a Desktop Application for advanced uploads (folder can be upload) and downloads (multiple downloads are possible). It also lets users manage files within their virtual drives. There is a toolbar that gives users instant access to 4shared Desktop, 4shared home page and personal 4shared account.
